Latest Digital Camera Advantages Over Conventional Cameras

Cameras have evolved and come a long way since the time they were first invented. Until the invention of digital cameras, photographs were made by exposing light sensitive photographic film and used chemical processing to develop and stabilize images. The first attempt at building a digital camera was done in 1975, although NASA was dealing with digital imaging technology way back in 1960. Those born in the 70s or before that have seen several stages of development: from handheld roll film cameras to digital cameras.

There are several benefits of digital cameras as compared to the older versions of cameras.

  • Eliminates Film Processing: Roll film cameras had a photo sensitive film, which captured images. Those images were visible on chemical processing. Digital cameras do not have any films. Images are digital, stored in memory chips in binary digits. The data of images can be transferred to computers using data cable. For a hard copy, prints of the images can be taken through a printer. Hence the whole cumbersome process of developing a film is eliminated.

  •  More data storage: Unlike photo films which could take either 32 or 64 prints at a time, digital camera can store thousands of pictures depending upon the size of the memory card installed.

  •  Ease of Editing: Digital cameras give a preview of images on the equipment before it stores it. If you are not happy with the image results, they can be deleted and re-shot. Even after the pictures have been taken, they can be edited on computer screen using several applications.

  •  Records Videos: Most digital cameras have inbuilt video recording feature. Any event or scene can be recorded without investing in a special video camera.
  • Amateur Friendly: There are several features in digital cameras, which give an instant appeal to amateurs. Firstly, there is no fear of wasting a film roll, features are self-explanatory and results can be viewed instantly. Many high-end cameras have motion detection mechanisms, which adjust moving images and thereby avoid blurriness. This helps while clicking moving objects. Similarly there are features for clicking in the dark, dim lit surroundings, smile detection, sports shoot mode and many more.
  • Environmental Friendly: Digital cameras are Eco-friendly. Processing of a film roll involved toxic chemicals, which were bad for the environment. Digital prints of the pictures are taken only if required otherwise they are stored as files on computers. This saves paper.

There are several categories of digital cameras with different specifications and results available in the market. Select one which meets your requirement and start clicking memories.
